Nous accueillons en ce moment Mademoiselle Avery Gates, élève américaine, originaire de Seattle. Elle effectue son stage professionnel en restauration à Nantes et à La Baule du 1er avril au 15 juin 2019.
« To whom it may concern,
My name is Avery Gates, I am twenty years old and incredibly excited for my time spent in Nantes. I can not wait to further my education and support my career with the knowledge from Bougainville and the chefs I will work under.
For as long as I can remember baking has been a part of my life, once I made the decision to pursue baking and pastry as my career, I knew I would always be happy to go to work. The same is happening since I accepted the opportunity to enter this program, I know there will be some challenges here and there but I am confident it will bring me joy every day. Although I am ecstatic about this opportunity, I do hold some fears. The largest fear I have is the language difference. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school, I have taken Spanish courses. I am proficient in the language and enjoy it very much but I do not see that coming in handy during my time in France. Knowing there would be some difficulties I have started to teach myself French, I have been using apps, reading French gastronomy magazines, and even watching a few French tv series. I am confident in the material I have learned, but have not been able to hold a conversation, as I do not know anyone who speaks French. No matter how horrible or fantastic my French may be, I will still work as hard as possible every day while in France and every day after.
As for my expectations, I have a few. My number one expectation is to fully enjoy this program and learn more than I could staying in the United States. I also expect there will be lots to do, I hope to always stay busy no matter what stage of the program I am in. I truly love pastry and know that anything that occurs during my time in France will be beneficial to my career and to my life.
I have always wanted to travel and learn as much as possible, I look forward to starting that adventure this April. I am thankful to everyone who has helped me get to this stage.

Avery Gates, l’élève américaine de notre partenaire de Seattle, est en stage à Nantes et à La Baule du 1er avril au 15 juin 2019.

du 2 au 4 avril, elle sera au lycée Bougainville : Travaux Pratiques avec M. Launay et M.Goregues puis anglais avec Mme Raguenault et enfin visite de Nantes avec Patrick Piard ;

du 8 au 27 avril, son stage a lieu chez Bruno Cacao à Nantes (maître chocolatier) ;

du 29 avril au 18 mai, son 2ème stage se déroule au restaurant L’Océanide à Nantes ;

du 20 mai au 15 juin, son dernier stage s’effectue au Castel Marie Louise à La Baule.
Avery est bien arrivée à Nantes lundi midi. Dès mardi, elle était au lycée Bougainville pour une semaine de cours. Jeudi soir, elle a rencontré M. Gaillard, artisan chocolatier et patron de la boutique Bruno Cacao à Nantes pour signer ses conventions. L’accueil « en anglais » a été très chaleureux. Elle commence lundi à 10h pour deux semaines de stage.
Son séjour à Nantes démarre à « cent à l’heure » !!!
Elle profitera de son week-end pour « se reposer » mais pas totalement car la visite des châteaux de la Loire est au programme avec sa famille d’accueil. Bon courage à elle !

I have been having a great time here so far. I’ve learned so much here and seen great things. We do not have any thing close to the historic beauty that’s here, in the U.S.
